Aaaaaaaaargh... Real life stuff has been keeping us pretty busy over here and this is like the first time in what feels like forever I've gotten a chance to take a break and catch up on LJ stuff and the first thing to jump out at me is Harvey James' completely awesome Pick a Cat, Draw a Girl collaborative art project...
That's the first picture I've drawn in what feels like WAY too long. I really need to get into a regimen where I do some drawing everyday. I know I keep going on and on about how much I want to get around to doing a finished comic (for further reference see just about every one of my LJ entries ever...) but I never seem to getting around to getting anything constructive done and it's kinda pissing me off. That and I've been wasting a fair amount of time playing with my new DSI because I cannot get enough of Retro Game Challenge. Seriously, it is like the ooiest gooiest mash note ever written to the 8-bit generation.
edit: Looks like the one I picked has already been done (and very nicely I may add...) so I think I'll try and bang out a couple more...

For those of you who haven't been following the EAZB, the next issue of Ryan & Evan's awesome adventure should be coming out later this year.
The first issue is still available at finer comic bookeries and zine establishments and is a great read. And there's a picture I drew in there as well... :3 |

Over the last month I think I've finally gotten my art mojo back. Every day I'm doodling something in my sketchbooks and trying to work out ideas for comics which has got me totally jazzed. Of course this means I've been drawing fewer flash pix to post online so I guess it's something of a "six one way/half a dozen the other" situation. Oh well. |

I saw this in my dreams last night and I was compelled to make a doodle of it...
And also... This is like the THIRD time I've uploaded this picture because every time I put it up I notice mistakes here and there and my OCD kicks in and I flip out. Hopefully 3rd time's the charm. |

Yet another nuevo tablet exercise. This time I wanted to see if I could strike a balance between my more polished flash pictures and my looser analog drawing style.
I also just wanted to draw a thing about KC Green who is a very LOL guy.
And after watching President Obama's address the other night and I was inspired to draw... this.

When I was a kid I had a bunch of old DC comics from the 60's and 70's and in EVERY SINGLE ONE OF 'EM there was an ad for this issue of Kamandi. It always struck me as being an incredibly awesome image so since all the cool kids are doing the "covered" thing I figured I'd take a crack reproducing it...
Granted it's more of a tracing than a straight up drawing but I'm pretty happy with how the colors turned out. |

So here I am all jazzed about getting back on the horse and drawing stuff and YAAAAAY! LOOKIT ME I'M ALL MOTIVATED AND SHIT! ...and my tablet goes and craps out on me. Well that's just ducky.
Guess I'll have to go shopping and get me a new tablet (or a new non-wrecked stylus). For the time being tho' my mouse still works so I figured I'd try my hand at doing some pixel art. What do ya think?

Well well well... Another new year and another "Sorry I haven't been on LJ for awhile" post. So what have I been up to since last time?
Mah bebbeh and I finally bit the bullet and moved into the house we've been desperately trying to sell for the last two years. Between the assy real estate market and our dwindling finances it was the best solution for a bad situation and at least now we can enjoy all of the hard work we've put into the house (fresh paint, new carpet, and a new roof courtesy of Hurricane Ike.)
And now that we've settled into the house we can get on with our lives and do all the things we've been putting on hold while we were trying to sell the house... Most notably GETTING MARRIED!
Long story short we're both pretty jazzed about getting a new start on our lives. 2009 looks like it's gonna be a pretty good year.
On an unrelated note... Here's a Fukushima Masami inspired doodle I farted out.

| It's been HOW long...? |

So sorry for the delay in posting, I guess you could chalk it up to 65% bein' busy and 35% bein' lazy. Things over here are pretty good though. In June my bebbeh and I celebrated our birfing days which are a week apart by having a party right in the middle of the two of them. It was a nice little gettogether with a menu consisting of...
Appetizers
~Artichoke salsa with pita chips
~Apple & pear Stilton with English water crackers
~Italian style cream of tomato soup with roasted garlic
Entree
~Macadamia nut crusted chicken served with cauliflower "fauxtatoes" and bell peppers
Dessert
~Macadamia nut liqueur cake
~Panna Cotta with a pomegranate glaze
...to put it mildly it was delicious. After that we've just been busy trying not to lose our minds over selling my house so we can get on with our lives. And we've been obsessing over a stray mama cat and her litter of kittens that have taken up residence in our back yard and spend quite a bit of time capering about and looking cute.
And as something of a belated birthday gift to myself I went and bought this :) |
