Totally awesome comics art guy Elio is putting together an adventurous little expidition for Professor Wellington and it reminded me of these two dusty chestnuts I whipped up waaaaaaaaaay long ago in the past. Sir Cedar Waxwing and his superpowered manservant Alonzo. |

Marcel sighed quietly to himself as he carried two plates of gnocchi across the lavish dining room. He approached the eager patrons and deposited his deliciously rustic cargo. All the while he desperately fought back the tears cringing at the thought of the grotesque farce that was still to come.
"Sir. Madame. Would you care for some additional seasoning for your dinner?"
Their dim faces lit up at the prospect as if this is the one point in the meal they had been waiting for all night. Chef Jacques would be positively apoplectic if he knew that these rubes wouldn't even touch their food without first saying, "Gimme that lil' somethin' extra Frenchie."
Marcel turned to a small nearby cage from which he retreived Boomer. Boomer was one of several terriers belonging to Le Boeuf Maison who, much like his siblings, had been force fed garlic and broccoli all day. Marcel took the excitable dog in his arms and started shaking it vigorously in the hopes it would discharge the gaseous contents of it's bowels onto the gnocchi.

At the reedy age of 73 Marcel was both the senior waiter and one of the few people who remembers what it was like before the Zarmalons came to Earth. Before the war. Before truffles were eradicated and supplanted by dog farts. Little did he realize that a group of rebels crouched in the bushes outside near the valet-bot and armed with crates of pet-grade Beano (tm) would result in his life taking a whole new direction... |

| How was EA#2...? |
[Oct. 26th, 2009|11:12 am] |
I don't know. A goblin stole my copy :(

However he has assured me that in addition to being bigger and sexier than the first issue it is jam-packed full of stories dealing with bodies, horror and the sexy nexus where the two intersect. There's also a ton of great art and comics by some of the most awesome people around. I somehow managed to sneak in there as well.
Ryan, you're an awesome dude and EA is the best anything ever. I can't wait to see what delights #3 shall hold.
And don't forget to visit the EAZB (or as I like to call it... "Eeeeeeyazzbuh"...) |

In order to celebrate the fact that the Same Hat guys have finished the latest issue of their wicked awesome Electric Ant zine which should be appearing in my mailbox very soon I thought I'd post some of the yonkoma-style comics I sent them that didn't make the cut. |

Remember Ben Jones' crazy rockin' awesome open-source cartoon character Tux Dog? Back when tuxdog.org was still active I put this strip together hoping Mr.Jones & co. would like it. Sadly it got lost in the shuffle at the USPS so here it is now for your amusement. |

[Sep. 23rd, 2009|09:35 am] |

Back when Paper Rodeo was still coming out I spotted an ad that said Leif Goldberg was looking for people to contribute to a new anthology book he was putting together called Free Radicals. This was one of the three comics I sent them.
And some of you might recognize the protagonist as an avant-garde version of Marty from the Stupid Papers #1. |

| Blast from the past... |
[Sep. 21st, 2009|02:03 pm] |

I was digging around in some old boxes and found some drawing and comics I'd forgotten all about. This little specimen is a jam comic my pal James and I cranked out this one time.
I started it off with a creature inspired by those old Kirby monster comics (WHERE MONSTERS DWELL etc...) and the whole crazy train pretty much flew off the rails... |

Aaaaaaaaargh... Real life stuff has been keeping us pretty busy over here and this is like the first time in what feels like forever I've gotten a chance to take a break and catch up on LJ stuff and the first thing to jump out at me is Harvey James' completely awesome Pick a Cat, Draw a Girl collaborative art project...

That's the first picture I've drawn in what feels like WAY too long. I really need to get into a regimen where I do some drawing everyday. I know I keep going on and on about how much I want to get around to doing a finished comic (for further reference see just about every one of my LJ entries ever...) but I never seem to getting around to getting anything constructive done and it's kinda pissing me off. That and I've been wasting a fair amount of time playing with my new DSI because I cannot get enough of Retro Game Challenge. Seriously, it is like the ooiest gooiest mash note ever written to the 8-bit generation.
edit: Looks like the one I picked has already been done (and very nicely I may add...) so I think I'll try and bang out a couple more...

[Mar. 19th, 2009|12:21 pm] |

For those of you who haven't been following the EAZB, the next issue of Ryan & Evan's awesome adventure should be coming out later this year.
The first issue is still available at finer comic bookeries and zine establishments and is a great read. And there's a picture I drew in there as well... :3 |
